Many may have read that the 80s were a time of low weight and size of computers. Many people think that today's laptops are still heavy, but it is not fair to know that it is 8 to 10 times the weight and size of today. Often, these computers made of metal are heavy. Also, the computers of those days did not have batteries. Requires electrical power to operate. That too in India at that time, consistent power was only possible in cities like Mumbai. In today's hospitals, the most laborious methods of protecting the newborn are lacking. Let's do a little comparison:

The reason for listing it here is that today's computers are like baby animals born in the wild, ready to use immediately, without any prior preparation!

In the 80s, most data was typed by a human WhatsApp Number List using a small data entry machine. This role is called 'data entry operator'. This job has been deleted today. 10 to 50 workers in a computer center saw this work. There will be only one or two programmers in the same center.

The data thus imported is recorded on a floppy disk. Don't think of a disk as having lots of storage. Only 256 KB was possible in the early 80s on a floppy disk. These data ingesting machines ensure that they are not completely filled and communicate to the driver with different sounds. In this, experienced operators, surveyors who analyze the data coming into the computer center and tell how many records can be recorded, a computer purchasing company should buy at least 5 to 50 data intake machines.

Customers of such personal computer centers are often companies that need to do payroll processing but cannot afford computers. Computer center will allocate floppy and computer tapes to each customer. What is computer tape here for? The data generated by the data recorder is transferred from the floppies to the computer tape. A computer can hold 100 to 500 floppies of data on tape. That is, for a large customer, one computer tape per month is sufficient.

Data for this is transferred from hundreds of floppies to the computer. Don't immediately jump to the USB Flash drive once it's converted. And that's a great job! Transferring sorted data from floppies to a tape is an art. For that, some intermediate programs are needed! Salaries are calculated and printed based on the data on the pay roll computer tape. This is a monthly festival!

Computer centers are like a festival with lots of activities at the end of the month. An environment where no one has time for any gossip. Due to the time-sensitive requirements of many clients, it is very stressful for DEOs to transfer data from floppies to tape, process it properly, and print payrolls and pay slips.

Anywhere it goes wrong, you have to redo all the work from the beginning! Today we don't worry about cloud computing centers hiding somewhere! Many users don't even know such a thing exists. In Kanyakumari, Ashok's Aadhaar is verified for his bank loan. 800 KM once the bank computer provides the Aadhaar number. A cloud computing center in far-off Bangalore tells the bank computer that it's OK, and Ashok's one job is done right away. Like a 1980 user, Ashok doesn't have to travel to a computer center.
